Malaysian otaku

I do not know whether a Malaysian being an Otaku should be a good thing or not, but I'm pretty sure Japanese anime is awesome! The next good thing about it, is that you are able to understand and speak Japanese, more or less. This reminds me of a bad experience during my job.

There is one day, due to an assignment, I had to go to a Hotel in Johor Bahru. Eventually I had my lunch in the hotel. Gosh, is there any non-japanese in the cafe except of the staff here? After my main course, I decide to get some dessert, and suddenly, a Japanese girl fell down beside me, she is 4 year-old lady I guess. I decently squad down and hold her up, looking at her bright round eyes and said "Daijobu?" (I know my Japanese is cracky) the girl did not answer. Then their parents came, her dad squad down holding her shoulder and said the same word. The mom then quickly apologize to me. "Suminase, hontou suminasen bla bla blah." I could understand that she is saying that to sorry for the trouble causing by her daughter. I tried speaking cracked Japanese "iya, nandemonai" (somthing like that, meaning no, it's nothing), then i keep smiling. As I suspect that she was trying to speak more Japanese to me, I said: "jitsuwa, watashiwa nihonji janai, demo, nihongo... a... (bow a little)." (meaning: Actually, I'm not a Japannese, so, Japanese language... a...) It is quite embraressing actually. I'm really really really not a Japanese. Although they overheard my 'daijobu', I really do not know how to explain. The same situation when I was in the plane, in Sunway Pyramid, in Singapore. In Hawaii? Hopefully not.

Well, it was a good oppotturnity to brush up my Japanese, perhaps. I think I'm better of when I was mistaken as a Malay, as I'm better in that T_T. I realised I broke a little Japanese girl dream, I think she expected me to speak English.
